Elementary Art
At Westgate Elementary, all kindergarten through 5th grade students are enrolled in a grade-level Visual Arts course and receive 50 minutes of quality instruction every week in a well-equipped art classroom with our teacher, Ms. Liz Halloran.
Students receive studio-based art project experiences based on a robust curriculum aligned to the Florida State Standards in the following Units of Study: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Mixed Media/Fiber, Digital Media, Sculpture and Ceramics. All K-5 students have access to a Digital Arts Lab with iPads for learning 21st century digital skills, digital citizenship, and creating digital artwork, photography, and stop-motion animation. During the year, exemplary student work is often selected for District Exhibitions and student competitions.
